Neuro-Endocrine Cancer Diagnostics and Therapy

We are seeking an independent and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in the Neuro-Endocrine Cancer lab with the Clinical Investigator: Samira Sadowski MD.  The fellow will conduct preclinical laboratory research to complete the following research aims:

1) To identify effective diagnostic methods and treatments for rare and neglected endocrine cancers.

2) To develop study models and improve receptor targeted therapy, including novel drug delivery systems, in neuroendocrine cancers.

3) To study the molecular pathophysiology of aggressive endocrine cancer and to identify novel and effective targeted therapies for personalized prognostication and response monitoring in metastatic endocrine cancers.

The postdoctoral fellow will be working closely with intramural and extramural collaborators to accomplish these aims. The goal is to translate the preclinical findings to clinical trials and improve tumor response, and ultimately patient outcome.

The Endocrine Oncology research at the NIH has been very successful because of the unique patient cohorts of rare endocrine cancers. The postdoctoral fellow will be mentored and supervised by Dr. Sadowski to complete the research goals and publications in anticipated timeline.

Candidates must have a PhD and / or an MD degree and less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience. Experience in the endocrine field is desirable but not mandatory. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in genetics/genomics, tissue culture, and molecular biology, as demonstrated by a strong publication record. S/he will have strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, is detail oriented, and with an ability to work independently as well as collaborate as a team member.

Applicants should send a personal statement, CV, research interest, and 3 letters of reference to Ms. Danielle Stewart at stewartdn@mail.nih.gov.

This position is subject to a background investigation.
The NIH is dedicated to building diverse community in its training and employment programs.
